Terms of Service

Effective date: July 24, 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of legalese.ph (the "Service"), operated by Legalese EdTech Philippines Inc. ("legalese.ph", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. About legalese.ph

legalese.ph lets you search Philippine Supreme Court decisions by case name or G.R. number and view an AI-generated case digest (facts, issue, ruling, and doctrine) alongside the original decision text. Decision text is sourced from LawPhil (lawphil.net), a third-party publisher of Philippine jurisprudence. Digests are generated using Google Cloud's Vertex AI.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at info@legalese.ph if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Free Trial and Subscriptions

New accounts receive a free trial period. We will provide notice before any paid subscription plan takes effect. Paid subscriptions, once introduced, will be billed through a third-party payment processor; we do not store your full payment card details on our own servers.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, systematically download, or bulk-extract content from the Service using automated means outside of normal, individual use;
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its digests as a competing product or dataset;
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent any security or access-control measure of the Service; or
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

6. Case Digests Are Not Legal Advice

Case digests on legalese.ph are generated by an AI model for research and educational purposes only. They do not constitute legal advice, may contain errors or omissions, and should not be relied upon as a substitute for reading the full decision or for consulting a licensed attorney. No attorney-client relationship is formed by using the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

Philippine court decisions are public domain material. The Service's software, branding, design, and AI-generated digests are owned by legalese.ph or its licensors and are provided to you for your own personal study and research use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service or its digests for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

8. Third-Party Sources and Services

The Service relies on third-party sources and providers, including LawPhil for decision text and Google Cloud Vertex AI for digest generation. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the accuracy or availability of third-party sources.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting info@legalese.ph. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, legalese.ph shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including reliance on any digest content.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold legalese.ph harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the proper courts of Quezon City, Philippines.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
